Idaho law does not explicitly protect emotional support animals. In line with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), it recognizes service animals and psychiatric service dogs (PSD). These animals are distinguished from ESAs as they are specifically trained to perform disability-related functions. For example, retrieving objects for a handler in a wheelchair or alerting an owner with PTSD that they are about to have a panic attack.
