Here’s laws for California in 2024.

If you are a California resident and have a dog you must establish a relationship of no less than 30 days with the therapist writing the ESA letter.

The law that requires this is the AB 468 law which was passed on January 1, 2022.

This law doesn’t apply to any other type of ESA.

Fort Wayne, Indiana is a super animal-friendly city. With an array of off-leash parks, various pet-friendly establishments, and a dog-friendly airport, it’s certainly a city that loves animals. Some of the public pools in the city even host a special swim for dogs before the end of summer – making it the perfect place for them to cool off in those hotter summer months.

If you live in Fort Wayne with your canine companions, you might be interested in exploring dog training options. In this guide, we will explore several online and in-person training solutions in the area.

Why Pick Online Dog Training?

Online dog training is a convenient and effective way to train your dog from the comfort of your home. It offers flexibility in scheduling, a wide range of expert trainers to choose from, and the ability to tailor lessons to your dog's specific needs. Plus, it often comes at a more budget-friendly price point compared to in-person training.

Online vs. In-Person Dog Training

Dog training is one of the best things that dog owners can do for their pups. Training your dog enhances their skills and knowledge, reduces the likelihood of problematic behaviors, keeps them well socialized, and reduces the chances of them getting into dangerous situations (like running into roads or failing to respond when you call them). Many dog owners grapple between the choice of online classes and in-person lessons. Both have their advantages depending on your dog and its unique needs. In-person classes are great if you’re looking to join group training classes and socialize your dog or if you want to handle dangerous behaviors like aggression. Nonetheless, in-person classes are more expensive than online options and don’t have the same flexibility levels.

Online classes are ideal for owners looking to master basic obedience, or potty train their pups. Online classes have several benefits from a cost and flexibility point too. These include:

  • They are more affordable than private classes
  • Everyone in the family can access the online videos
  • They are self-paced and well-suited for busy schedules
  • They don’t require any travel time

Pettable Academy – Best online all-around dog training

If you are looking for accessible, self-paced online classes that can enhance your training knowledge and give your dog the tools needed to thrive, then Pettable’s online training modules are ideal. We have two modules for dog owners: First, Puppy Kindergarten, which focuses on puppy-proofing the home and potty training, and secondly the more advanced focus class series. Here, you will learn some of the key commands in obedience training, including ‘sit, ‘stay’, ‘lie down’, and ‘wait.’

Our online classes are led by a qualified dog trainer and they’re ideal for the whole family as they can be re-watched time and again. Once your pup has completed the series, they will receive a certificate that acknowledges their progress.

Flying Colors Canine Academy – Best for Group Classes

If you want to socialize your pup and get them used to engaging with other dogs, Flying Colors Canine Academy might be the best bet. They run classes for dogs under 5 months and dogs over 5 months, covering a range of obedience skills, including leash walking, basic commands, greeting guests, and good manners. Some of the packages also include day training options, where you can drop your pup at the facility for the day. The center also arranges special alumni pack walks for past canine pupils and their owners. This is a great opportunity for them to spend time with other socialized dogs.

Dog Training Elite of Fort Wayne – Best for In-Home, In-Person Training

If you are looking for a more specialized program where a qualified trainer comes to your home and works with your dog directly, this is a worthwhile option. During at-home sessions, trainers get the opportunity to work with your dog in their environment and understand the various dynamics at play. In doing so, they can tailor a specialized program to target specific behaviors and issues. At-home sessions have the added benefit of reducing instances of distraction, making them ideal for dogs who are easily overwhelmed and distracted. In-home trainers from Dog Training Elite can work with owners to combat a range of negative behaviors, including aggression, excessive barking, ignoring commands, and housebreaking.

Dog Psychology and Training Center – Best for Board and Train Options

If you are looking for private, in-person training options or board and train solutions, Dog Psychology and Training Center is worth a look. The family-run facility believes that every dog is an individual and tailor training programs based on their needs. Methods include clicker based training, positive reinforcement, and correction methods. During the board and train program, your dog will stay at the facility and will learn various commands and obedience skills. They will also be immersed into the family so that they can learn how to navigate daily life and implement the skills that they’ve been taught.

The Takeaway

Training your dog is one of the best things you can do as an owner. It’s the key to enhancing your communication and building your bond. Get in touch for more information on our online training programs and emotional support animal (ESA) letter support.
