1. Clara & Boogie Cat

An image of Clara's ESA "Boogie Cat" sitting on the edge of the bed looking into the camera.

The Tiny Stray Who Redefined ‘Home’: Boogie Cat’s Story

“Then it clicked in my frazzled brain: I was doing all of this for HER.”

Boogie Cat didn’t just walk into her new home — she claimed it. Found in a freezing parking lot, she climbed into her rescuer’s apartment without hesitation. “I didn’t have to do any coaxing,” her owner shared. “She moved in happily.

No chip, no replies to found-pet posts — just fate. “I had already started collecting cat-themed decor,” she said. “Almost all of the cats looked like Boogie: black with bright yellow eyes.

When it came time to move, it was Boogie who kept things together. “I’m autistic, and the moving process was long. I could feel my brain’s reserves running out of fuel,” she shared. But Boogie rode back and forth with her through the rain, purring the whole time. “She ran around the new place and looked at me like, ‘You got this for ME?!’ That’s when I realized: I was doing all of this for her.

Boogie turned what should’ve been a mentally exhausting chapter into a time marked by tiny pawprints, purrs, and resilience. “She was what ‘home’ meant to us.

Later joined by a second cat, Ondina, their family grew — but so did expenses. “Between the pet deposit and pet rent, we were looking at over $1,200 a year. That was money we needed for groceries and gas.

That’s when she found Pettable. “I spoke with a mental health professional the same day and got the kitties an ESA letter within 24 hours. I just renewed it a few weeks ago.

Now Boogie and Ondina lounge on their parents’ laps, purring away. “Even though I’m the one on the letter, my husband often says the kitty-cats are one of the biggest blessings in his life.

A big THANK MEW to Pettable from Boogie Cat, Ondi Girl, and their humans!

2. JoAnne & Rocky Balboa

From Abandoned to Adored: Rocky Balboa’s Comeback Story

“He is a miracle,” she said.

When working from home began to feel a little too quiet, Rocky’s future mom started thinking about adopting a dog. She found herself haunted by photos of a dog in truly heartbreaking condition — mange head to toe, emaciated, shot with bullets and BBs, and left to die alone in South Carolina.

That dog was Kingston. “The pictures still haunt me,” she said. But something wouldn’t let her look away. With a background in animal science and a mom who trained dogs, she told herself, Why not? I can just inquire.

Kingston had already begun his long recovery in foster care in New York. After a phone interview and a visit, she took him home on September 10, 2022. “He was goofy, skinny, completely untrained… and I said, ‘I’ll take him.’” His foster dad cried when he handed over the leash.

Now renamed Rocky Balboa, the name suits him. “He helps me in ways, and I do the same for him, that I never imagined,” she shared. They hike together, go everywhere he’s allowed, and have built a life that makes room for each other’s fears and triumphs. He’s still cautious of certain things, but “he removes us from situations when I’m uncomfortable — and I do the same for him.”

Rocky, once predicted to need pain meds for life, is now completely off medication. He doesn’t even bark — but thanks to training and patience, he can now do so on cue with a hand signal. “He is so smart, so happy, and loves everyone — which makes no sense given how badly he was treated.”

She still shares updates with the foster mom who helped Rocky walk again. When that woman saw a video of him running at the park, she broke down in tears.

“She said she never thought he would be able to do that. He is a miracle.”

3. Aidee with Kahlua & Stanley

How Kahlua and Stanley Helped Me Survive My Darkest Days

“In the utmost loneliest, devastating moment in life, here I am looking at them, grateful.”

Kahlua and Stanley both came from the same rescue — two very different dogs who became everything to their person when life collapsed.

Kahlua is intuitive, gentle, and always rising to the occasion. Stanley, the goofy, boundary-pushing goofball, is full of life and teaches patience every day. But when everything fell apart — when getting out of bed felt impossible — it was these two who kept her grounded.

Kahlua, ever the working dog, stuck close and begged her not to leave when it was clear she was falling apart. Stanley, a big dog with an even bigger heart, would lie on top of her, look into her eyes, and silently ask her to get up.

“They helped me get off the floor when I wept so hard I could not breathe.”

Every weekend was spent at rock bottom. Crying. Screaming. Dreading Monday. But the dogs never left her side — comforting her, howling with her, even making her laugh.

Now, amid a total life reset — a new state, a new city, a new beginning — Kahlua and Stanley remain the center of her world. And even though Stanley may be facing a return of cancer, every moment with him is cherished. “He’s my Scooby Doo,” she says. “He comforts me the only way he can.

The ESA Letter from Pettable made it possible to keep them both by her side. “I couldn’t think straight, but the process was easy. The therapist was amazing. Thank you for everything.

“Wagging tails, wet noses, poop to scoop — they hold me tight, lick my tears, howl with me, and make me smile. Truly, they are my reward.”

4. Kelly & Dansby

How Dansby Became My Lifeline After an Epilepsy Diagnosis

“Dansby wakes me up at 5:15 a.m. every morning for potty, food… and devotions.”

When a friend and Goldendoodle breeder asked Kelly if she would consider rehoming a young male, she said yes — and the moment she saw Dansby, she fell in love. This giant, gentle, attention-seeking cuddlebug quickly became part of the family. He let Kelly’s little Jack Russell-Yorkie mix, Pippa, be in charge of everything and was totally captivated by her Scottish Fold cat, Iris. He fit right in.

After Kelly was diagnosed with epilepsy and became unable to work, her animals became her daily companions — keeping her active, on schedule, and emotionally grounded. But Dansby was different. He needed her in a way that pulled her out of her own head and kept her connected to the world around her.

“He is always requiring me to be present in the moment, connecting me to what is real.”

While Kelly’s other pets could sleep all day, Dansby wanted movement, connection, and purpose — and in doing so, gave her the same. He got her up every day at 5:15 a.m. for food and devotions, helping to keep her mind and body healthier than they had been in years.

When Kelly moved from Alabama to Washington, she and her family became renters for the first time — and quickly realized they needed ESA documentation for Dansby. The stress and anxiety of possibly not being able to bring him were overwhelming.

Pettable made it possible. The process was easy and fast, and the therapist Kelly worked with made sure she had exactly what was needed to satisfy her new landlord.

“The thought of not having Dansby with me brought on panic attacks. Pettable saved our situation.”
