Here’s laws for California in 2024.

If you are a California resident and have a dog you must establish a relationship of no less than 30 days with the therapist writing the ESA letter.

The law that requires this is the AB 468 law which was passed on January 1, 2022.

This law doesn’t apply to any other type of ESA.

Tractor Supply is a major US retailer of agricultural goods and home and garden improvement supplies. With over 2,000 stores dotted across 49 out of the 50 states, you've likely wondered if dogs are allowed in Tractor Supply. Here we'll detail their dog policy and give you all the information needed to have an enjoyable experience at this chain with your pup.

Are Dogs Allowed in Tractor Supply?

The great news is that Tractor Supply is a pet-friendly store. With so many pet products available, it's no wonder that they have such a positive pet policy. To keep everyone happy and safe, pet owners should follow a few guidelines, including keeping their pups on leashes at all times.

What is Tractor Supply's Dog Policy?

Happily, all dogs are allowed in Tractor Supply stores as long as they are on a leash. On their official Facebook page, they share, "All friendly and leashed pets are welcome." This means that whether your pup is a service dog, a pet or an emotional support animal, they're allowed in the store (provided that they are friendly and leashed).

Tips for Taking Your Dog to Tractor Supply

To make your outing to Tractor Supply an enjoyable one, it's advised to follow these tips. By sticking to the guidelines, everyone stays happy and safe, and Tractor Supply will likely keep its pet-friendly policy in place for years to come.

Keep Your Dog Leashed

Keep your pup leashed at all times to ensure that it stays close by and doesn't get lost or tangled up in store displays. Keeping your pooch on a leash of no longer than six feet is advised.

Top tip: Opt for a normal leash rather than a retractable one for in-store adventures, as retractable leashes might cause some chaos if the store is quite busy.

Make Sure Your Dog is Well-Behaved

It's important that your pup knows how to behave in public and doesn't pose a risk to other customers or pets. Aggressive dogs or those with severe anxiety should be left in the safety of your home, as a public outing might cause them too much stress or result in an unfortunate incident. Pups who join their owners at Tractor Supply should know how to respect people's boundaries, listen to commands, be socialized with other pets and be potty trained. Always bring a clean-up kit in case of an accident.

Keep Your Dog Away From Strangers

Out of respect, keep your pup near and make sure that it doesn't go up to unsuspecting strangers. Not everyone feels comfortable around dogs, so to ensure Tractor Supply stores stay dog-friendly, it's important to consider all customers.

Are Service Dogs Allowed in Tractor Supply?

Yes, as per the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), all service dogs are allowed in any public space when they are with their handler. Service dogs are defined as those who perform a specific function that aids their owner's disability. Disabilities can be psychiatric, physical, sensory or intellectual.

Service dogs are always welcome at Tractor Supply stores nationwide.

Are Emotional Support Animals Allowed in Tractor Supply?

Yes. Emotional support animals who are "friendly and leashed" are allowed in Tractor Supply stores. If you're unsure of a particular animal species, call the specific store in advance and consult with the manager.

Can Tractor Supply Ask for Proof of a Service Dog?

No, stores cannot legally ask owners for proof that their dog is a service animal. They can, however, ask two questions. Firstly, is your dog required because of a disability? Secondly, has your dog been individually trained to perform a specific function related to the disability?

List of Dog-Friendly Stores

Tractor Supply is just one dog-friendly store amongst a sea of them. These include:

  • Apple Store (Most stores)
  • Bass Pro Shops
  • Home Depot (Some stores)
  • Lowes
  • Lush Cosmetics
  • Macy's (Some stores)
  • Nordstrom
  • Petco
